Mission

To connect and educate a diverse group of community leaders, inspiring them to serve the Richmond region.

Description

Thirty-five years ago, Richmond was a very different place. Our community was separated by race, neighborhoods and the battle between the city and the counties. These trends were under-scored by the changing corporate climate that was forcing Richmond to look beyond its borders as the private sector became more sophisticated and expanded its reach both nationally and globally. In response to these new trends, a courageous group of visionary leaders gathered to participate in a new Chamber based program designed to connect a diverse group of emerging leaders for thoughtful examination of the challenges within the community and gather multiple perspectives on these challenges while creating a safe environment of understanding and respect for the viewpoints of others. Those courageous individuals headed up the first Leadership Metro Richmond class. Today, LMR members occupy seats at every key decision making table in our region. We connect diverse leaders to one another and to community engagement opportunities, we increase leaders\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' knowledge and perspectives on key regional issues, we provide an environment for challenging and strategic conversations and we inspire collaboration, inclusion and unselfish service to our region.
