The mission of Leadership Houston is to enlighten, empower, and engage diverse community leaders through a broadened knowledge of Houston and increase their civic leadership capacity for the benefit of Greater Houston and its stakeholders.
Leadership Houston was formed in 1982 with the goal of bringing together leaders from different communities to increase dialogue, and foster collaboration on projects that would improve the quality of life for all Houstonians.
Today, over 1900 Leadership Houston alumni contribute significantly to the private sector on a daily basis, playing key leadership roles in government agencies, nonprofit organizations, small businesses and Fortune 500 corporations.

Leadership Houston\\\'s Signature Program is a ten-month journey through Houston\\\'s history, economy and development. Through two overnight retreats and eight monthly class days, the program provides exposure to Houston\\\'s key industries and affords participants a \\\"backstage pass\\\" into the inner workings of Greater Houston.
