To develop individuals for future leadership roles in Chemung County and the Southern Tier by enhancing leadership skills, and motivating these individuals toward community involvement by helping them to better understand issues that affect the community.
Leadership Chemung is an educational program featuring sessions twice a month, beginning with an Orientation Session in September and concluding with Commencement in May of each year.
Sessions cover a variety of leadership skills and community education topics, including: County History & Government, Listening Skills & Communication, Downtown Revitalization, Multigenerational Interaction, The Business of Education, Public Safety, Developing Your Team, Conflict Management, Leadership: Key to Successful Business, Emotional & Social Intelligence, The Value of Vision, Making Your Case and Technology and its Effects on Leadership.
Class members also complete a group community volunteer project as part of their curriculum.
Leadership Chemung is an initiative of the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce with a history spanning more than three decades.
