Carin Buckman Details

Carin Buckman is a Senior Officer, External Communications & Community Engagement, for the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. At the Hartford Foundation, Carin oversees all paid advertising, media relations and community engagement in support of the Foundation’s strategic goals. She is currently leading the community foundation’s Get Out the Vote civic engagement initiative.

Carin was formerly the Director of Marketing & Communications for Leadership Greater Hartford, where she was responsible for managing the organization’s look and voice through all marketing, communications, and public relations efforts - across all marketing platforms. She led Leadership Greater Hartford’s re-branding initiative.

Carin is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science dual degree from the Wharton School of Business in marketing and international business, and a Bachelor of Arts dual degree from Penn’s College of Arts and Sciences in Spanish and Portuguese. She has more than 30 years of marketing communications experience. Prior to joining Leadership Greater Harford, Carin was the Marketing Manager for a $250 million corporation and served in the same capacity for a state-wide nonprofit in CT. She has owned her own franchise and worked as a consultant, using her marketing and communication skills to help grow small businesses and nonprofits.
Carin feels strongly about making a positive contribution to her community. She has served as Board Secretary for Cultura Mosaica, Inc., a nonprofit that promotes Latino culture and heritage in the Hartford community. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Beth El Temple of West Hartford and on the University of Connecticut Foundation's White Coat Gala Committee.
Carin, born in Philadelphia and raised in Plymouth Meeting, PA, currently resides in West Hartford, CT with her two sons and her golden retriever.

Jan Paul

Executive Director, Leadership Sandy Springs (GA)

Jan Paul Details

Jan Paul is Executive Director of Leadership Sandy Springs and has been with the organization since 2012. At the helm of the organization, Jan is responsible for developing, educating and connecting community leaders to build a thriving Sandy Springs and Central Perimeter area. Along with managing the organization, she is responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the programs, developing future adult and youth leaders, and building external relationships. Prior to joining Leadership Sandy Springs, Jan was co-founder and executive vice president of iSquared Communications, a marketing communications agency. For 20 years, she managed the public relations division, which included business-to-business clients and state government agencies.

Additionally, Jan is Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission (Georgia Public Broadcasting [GPB]) and has served on the board since 2003, which oversees a statewide network of nine television stations and 20 radio stations. GPB Education serves several state agencies, including the Department of Education. Through its telecommunications technology, GPB delivers high-quality programming that meets Georgia educational standards and is broadcast throughout the state.

Jan attended the University of Maryland, studying Business Administration and graduated from Georgia State University with a communications degree. She and her husband Rusty have five adult children and four grandchildren.

Spalding Olmsted

Spalding Olmsted Details

Spalding Olmsted has been Chief Marketing Officer for both public and private corporations spanning the retailing, hospitality, tourism, commercial construction and real estate development industries along with non-profit organizations and economic development entities in Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas and Washington.

She is an award-winning marketing, branding, public relations, advertising and social media professional that now helps companies and their executives with their corporate strategies, branding, marketing, social media, sales, public relations and event planning. She’s also their coach, communications’ trainer, motivator and creative problem solver.

As the first woman in the Western US to be appointed an Officer of a commercial construction company as Vice President of Marketing for nationally-ranked Kitchell Contractors, she paved the way for other women in AZ to follow. She was appointed by the President of the National Association of American General Contractors’ (AGC) to the Judging panel for their U.S. “Build America” competition in Washington D.C. She also served as the Special Counsel for the national AGC’s Public Relations & Marketing Committees.

Her firm has been selected in numerous years as one of the Business Journal’s Book of Lists Top 25 firms in marketing and advertising. In addition, Spalding and her firm, The Spalding Group, have won a multitude of awards for their brands, logos, brochures, newsletters, advertisements and social media programs and been elected as:

• One of the Top 50 Women-Owned Businesses in Arizona,
• Who’s Who in Advertising by the Phoenix Business Journal, and for
• The 2010 National Circle of Excellence (selected by customers and peers)

Spalding was a Phoenix Chamber of Commerce Athena Award finalist, a political appointment to the Tempe Design Review Board and has won leadership awards from the Society for the Marketing of Professional Services and the Arizona Valley Leadership organization.

She also organized the Fiesta Bowl’s 1st Tennis Tournament which continues today as part of the Fiesta Bowl’s festivities and Tempe, AZ’s 1st Tourism FAM trip bringing in travel agents from around the world. A member of Valley Leadership’s Class VII and subsequently on VL’s Board of Directors, she is currently a member of the elite Charter 100 & Commercial One women’s groups plus the commercial real estate professionals’ organization, Urban Land Institute, where she’s an active member on ULI’s prestigious AzTAP committee.

Active in the community, she’s served on 10 Board of Directors including the Arizona Republican Caucus, National Association for Corporate Real Estate Executives, AZ Juvenile Diabetes Association, Charter 100, Valley Leadership, Central AZ Shelter Services, Phoenix Musical Theater, AZ Science Center, Arizona Renaissance Athletic Club and AZ CoreNet (formerly International Development Research Council). She’s been a leading fundraiser for the AZ Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Phoenix Rescue Mission, Valley Partnership and the Arizona Association for Economic Development,

Besides being selected to serve on Justice Sandra Day O’Connor’s Advisory Committee for Domestic and Sexual Justice, she recently helped raise $13 million for a new 64 apartment Changing Lives Center complex for homeless women & children which provides a year-long rehabilitation and job training program that gives these women a new start on living productive lives.

Spalding’s professional, community and political contributions over the years encompass participation in 29 organizations, serving on the Boards of Directors for 10 profit and non-profit organizations and being President or Chairman for 13 different organizations. She’s published, spoken to numerous local and national organizations on marketing topics across the board and sought after as a motivational speaker to professional women’s groups.
