Kate Stone, Leadership Tennessee

Learning Session: Open Space - Driving Conversations Toward Action

Kate moved to Tennessee in 2001 to attend Vanderbilt University, where she received her B.A. in American Studies. In 2009, she received her J.D. from the University of Louisville, where she received the Leon P. Lewis award for commitment to public service.

Kate served in AmeriCorps, coordinating an America Reads-America Counts program in 10 inner-city schools in Indianapolis, Indiana. She litigated as an Assistant General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services and as a Juvenile Public Defender in Davidson County, and also worked in non-profit administration at the Oasis Center.

Kate served on the junior board of the YWCA and Foster Care Review Board, and currently serves on the Mid-Cumberland Council on Children and Youth, ACEs Awareness Private Sector Steering Committee, Vanderbilt University Alumni Interviewing program, and the PTA for a Montessori preschool.
